R&D System engineer – Satellite, Network

We are seeking a Systems Design Engineer with expertise in Networking and Cellular Backhaul (CBH) to join an innovative, initiative focused on cutting-edge, emerging technology. As part of a multi-national team of highly skilled and dedicated individuals, this role will contribute to the development of transformative satellite communication networks.
Key Responsibilities:
The R&D Systems Engineer will be responsible for conducting research and delivering architecture, design, and specifications for new features and systems, including:
- Multiple CBH scenarios
- MetroEthernet backhauling
- Performance enhancement and QoS optimization
- Mobility solutions, MEC, SDN, VNF on HTS and LEO satellites
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in both lab-based research and innovation, driving success through creativity and technical expertise.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- In-depth understanding of satellite and wireless communication systems at both the physical layer (transmission/reception, antennas, modulation/coding, propagation, etc.) and link layer (resource management/control, address resolution, signaling, encapsulation, etc.).
- Familiarity with DVB-RCS/RCS2 and DVB-S2/S2X standards, as well as Network Management Systems and OSS/BSS.
- Proficiency in Network Fundamentals, Routing, Switching, and MetroEthernet (MEF3.0) standards; experience with Cisco equipment across various classes.
- Expertise in cellular backhaul concepts, design, and implementation; knowledge of other wireless technologies is a plus.
- Exposure to emerging technologies, such as AI, IoT, VANET, MEC, NFV, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Virtualization, and Digitization.
- Understanding of satellite mobility requirements is advantageous.
- Strong grasp of IP networking, including protocols, performance enhancement techniques (PEP), and Quality of Service (QoS).
- Experience working in a telecommunications lab with test equipment.
- Familiarity with security and encryption techniques.
- Exposure to EMS/NMS, OSS/BSS, and accounting/billing systems is a plus.
- Experience in generating technical material for proposals is highly valued.
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, etc.) is considered an asset.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in IT, Computer Science, Networking, Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- A passion for learning and growing in the satellite industry.
- Ability to provide insightful reports and analysis to the department manager.
- Minimum of two years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong enthusiasm for R&D, lab integration, and product/system improvement.
- Self-motivated and eager to conduct independent research and development with minimal supervision.
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
