HR and Payroll Manager – Maternity Leave Replacement (12 months)
We are looking for a temporary HR and Payroll Manager to cover a maternity leave, managing our HR and payroll functions effectively during this period. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR practices and payroll management, preferably with experience in Ceridian systems. This role will involve processing payroll, managing employee relations, and supporting various HR initiatives to maintain smooth operations and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration
- Process and manage bi-weekly payroll cycles using the Ceridian system, ensuring timely and accurate payroll operations.
- Handle payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, promotions, salary changes, and benefits adjustments.
- Administer employee benefits programs and manage enrollments and deductions
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations and maintain accurate payroll records.
- Process year-end reports, including T4’s/RL1’s, and assist with any payroll audits
Human Resources Management
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring compliance with HR policies and company procedures.
- Update and post job descriptions to align with evolving roles and responsibilities across the organization
- Manage the recruitment process, including screening, interviewing, and candidate selection
- Advise managers on hiring decisions, conduct exit interviews, and recommend improvements
- Provide support on employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and performance management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records by developing a systematic filing and retrieval process for both current and historical data.
- Organize training sessions to support employee development
- Support managers in employee development, and disciplinary actions.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in HR and payroll management, ideally with Ceridian software.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial employment and payroll regulations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong proficiency with payroll systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Bilingualism (English, French).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
